Reporter: what is the reason why the medal ribbon is made of silk?

Hang Hai: the material of our medal ribbon is silk. Other countries use chemical fiber, but the silk is very thin. Hanging more than 500 grams of medals may deform. We have also spent a lot of effort on how to make the thin silk thicker. In a word, the problem of deformation is also solved perfectly in the end. In addition, the concept of using silk as ribbon is also based on the concept of the 2008 Olympic Games, which echoes that Beijing is the first "double Olympic city". In Chinese culture, we say that "good things become double".

Reporter: is there any connection between the design of this year's Winter Olympic medals and the design of subsequent award ceremonies? What are the differences between the award ceremony and the past?

Hang Hai: the medal design has little to do with the subsequent awarding process, but this year's awarding ceremony may not be the same as before. In the past, it was the etiquette lady who carried the medal to the athletes, and then an awarding guest brought this sign to the athletes. But this year, because of the epidemic, the person who carried the sign became the presenter. The athletes took the sign out of the plate and put it on themselves.

When I went to the production unit to check and accept the medals, I talked with my friends there. They were worried that the medals were very heavy, the weather was cold and windy. In the case of team games, the medals were all placed on a plate. The presenters were not trained, and there might be accidents. So we put a cloth cushion on the award tray to prevent the medal from slipping.
